A Grand Night for Singing!

This fresh and innovative revue features the songs of the popular and prolific Rodgers and Hammerstein. This limited run (one weekend only) will be performed August, 9, 10, and 11th at the Englert Theatre in downtown Iowa City.

Director: Josh Sazon
Musical Director: Wes Habley

Friday, May 10:  7:00-10:00pm
Saturday, May 11:  1:00-6:00pm

Auditions will be held in St. Andrew’s choir room (140 Gathering Place Ln, Iowa City, IA 52246, lower level). Please prepare 16 bars of a song in the style of Rodgers and Hammerstein (i.e., Broadway musicals from the 1940s to early 1960s). An accompanist will be available.

Note for auditioners:

While this revue is usually produced with five performers, we are open to casting a larger number of actors, allowing us the opportunity to choose people perfectly suited to each section and song — and to minimize rehearsal commitment. We will base involvement in group numbers on individual availability and the requirements of the ensemble vocals.

This is the perfect show for actors who want to sing more, and singers who want to act more, and everyone in between. There is also some need for people with an ability to move well on stage — but this is not a dance-heavy show.

Rehearsals will begin on May 28th and will occur Monday through Thursday 7:00-9:30pm.

Information on tickets will be posted at iowacitycommunitytheatre.com and shared on social media.
